INTRODUCTIONMy goal was to create a picture using a series of small photos on Adobe Photoshop.

TITLE Autumn
PROJECT Typographic Art
SIZE Tabloid (11x17)
MEDIUM Different lines, fonts, colours, shapes, and gradient effects.
RESOURCES Font “Throw My Hands Up In The Air” taken from www.dafont.com
INTRODUCTIONMy goal was to create a picture of a tree depicting autumn using Adobe Illustrator, made entirely out of typography.
DEVELOPMENT
Using the “Blob Brush Tool”, I drew a series of lines that resembled the shape of a tree.
I took words and phrases from various poems, song lyrics, quotes, and typographic artwork with an autumn theme.
I then used the “Type on a Path Tool” to type the words and phrases I had chosen along the lines that I had already drawn.
I changed the colours of the words to resemble the colours of a tree.
I created a brown and blue gradient background to represent the ground and the sky, and placed it behind the tree.
REFLECTION
To create my artwork, I used techniques such as typing on a line and changing colours to create the shape of a tree. Before I made the tree, I wanted to create the New York City skyline out of typography. This idea did not work because after an entire week of working on the piece, I hadn’t even finished half of it yet. To create the tree, I used letters of different proportions, emphasized certain components by changing their colours, and used a variety of different lines. I used warm colours in the tree and cool colours for the background to create contrast. I added the background to bring everything together and make it all one picture, instead of a collage of words.

PROJECT Surrealism
SIZE 8x6
MEDIUM Photographs
RESOURCES
Nevit Dilmen, 2006, “Mardin Miniaturk”, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Mardin_stone_houses_02148.jpg
All images of faces taken from Google Images.
No original photography was used in this piece.
INTRODUCTIONMy goal was to create an unrealistic scene using Adobe Photoshop.
DEVELOPMENT
I chose the photo of the stone houses to use as the main photo.
I then chose several pictures of faces, and placed each on their own layer.
I adjusted the opacity of the faces and erased the parts that I didn’t need so that they would blend in with the buildings and give the impression that the buildings had faces.
